To start, we figured that we would share more about who The Service Collaborative of WNY is, what we do, and some of the history behind our programs and service experiences. We're excited that you're along for the ride!
The Service Collaborative of WNY partners with other nonprofits to create service opportunities for dedicated individuals. These opportunities focus on education, environmental conservation, or youth workforce development. All of our programs strive to move Buffalo and Western New York towards an equitable future while engaging members of our community in impactful service. We've been doing this work for over 20 years- take a look at the timeline below to see how we got to where we are today!
TSC's workforce development programming began serving at-risk young people.
TSC begins to build an AmeriCorps VISTA program, partnering with other nonprofits to offer opportunities.
The ABLE program launched onto the scene, matching individuals with service opportunities in education.
TSC deployed a Gulf Coast Recovery Team to Mississippi to respond to the devastation facing the region after Hurricane Katrina. This program remained active until 2008. Take a look at the photo below to see our Executive Director Kate Sarata hard at work!
TSC operations officially moved into the City of Buffalo, NY.
Our primary offices moved to their current home at 173 Elm in downtown Buffalo.
Youth/Workforce Development operations moved into new offices and classroom space within the Foundry at 298 Northampton.
The EJC program launched, offering both environmental education and green infrastructure opportunities.
Buffalo Futures launched, offering young aspiring professionals pathways to their desired careers and wraparound services.
